Guess the crochet: project rules and 1st picture

Alright, I'm going to be doing a contest for everyone that actually reads my blog! This contest is going to take probably along the lines of 3-4 months, because it is so huge. Here are the logistics:

The thing I am making is a blanket. It will be 10 feet long by 14 feet side, and is 30 squares long by 42 squares wide. It is quite literally the most gigantic thing I've ever made! It is being commissioned by a friend of mine who LOVES video games (hint hint).

If you already know the answer from me telling you, please don't spoil everyone's fun of guessing!

The rules are pretty simple: guess the project and you get a FREE BEARD BEANIE of any color.

Yeah, I'm horrible at adding things with photoshop..if anyone wants to give me some tutorials that'd be great!

The following things will need to be included in the answer in order to win
  • the names of the 2 characters featured on the blanket
  • what video game they are from, specifically!
See, not very hard right?

I will be posting pictures as I complete each row. I have only finished the first row right now, so I am really only posting this first picture as a shock value so you can see how wide this thing is!!

This is the first row.  Since the border is going to be Thunder blue (because the recipient of said blanket LOVES the OKC Thunder!!)

If you have any questions , feel free to comment! and of course if you already think you know, i suppose you can guess now too!

Stay crafty my friends.

**updated 4/17/2012**

Here are moreso "Official" rules, so people won't get utterly confused.

Guess the Project contest! The thing you will be guessing is which TWO video game characters I will be featuring on this huge 10"x14" blanket!

Prize? FREE BEARD BEANIE!

Rules for the contest!
1. You can only vote at www.craftyallie.blogspot.com. Any guesses made on FB will not be acknowledged.
2. You may only guess once per blog post that I've made on blogger.
2. I will not recognize guesses unless someone actually gets it right. If you haven't heard from me, no one has guessed correctly! Also, in regards to guesses, there are two characters I will be incorporating into this blanket. Both characters must be guessed correctly by the same person in the SAME comment in order to win! So even if you guessed the first character, if you want to continue guessing you'll need to include the first character name and the second character name in your comment.
3. If I have told you in person what these characters are going to be, please don't comment! If I've told you then you're probably already a good enough friend of mine and I've already made you something for free :)
4. I will be posting hints as much as possible, but not on here. Go to my blog to see them! I also post picture hints, such as all of the colors of yarn, etc.
5. Winner gets a free beard beanie.

Questions? Let me know! This is fun. I'm hoping to be finished by mid-summer!

gorros con BARBAS!

This has been one of my favorite weeks of crocheting because I have gotten to make several beanies with beards attached to them. Very fun, and very easy to make! I decided to photograph them with me doing manly poses. DISCLAIMER: I'm not implying that the acts of thinking, smoking pipe, and shaving are solely acts that men do. However, I do have a beard on. Therefore, man actions.

 Pondering philosophically..
 Smoking pipe
..and shaving.

I got so excited about making these that I went ahead and decided to buy ALL COLORS POSSIBLE to make a beard:
So now I can make blonde, white/grey, grey, black/grey, black, brown with red and black, brown, and ginger colored beards! woohoo!

I'm also going to be doing a "guess that crochet project" series soon with a HUGE project I have just started, so keep an eye out for that. Whoever guesses the project first gets a FREE BEARD BEANIE!

New semester, new things.

School recently started up, and I've found myself in a place of crafting and procrastination/the most productive I've been in college. Somehow, I've managed to stay ahead in all of my classes, and I've still had time to knit and crochet. Best combination ever!

My classes are not that bad, except I'm taking two science classes with labs plus 2 other classes: Microbiology w/ lab, Physiology w/ lab, world music, and spanish 4.  It's week two, and I think things are going swimmingly :)

Here are a few things I've finished recently..

Fox scarf made for a friend in my anatomy class, and now my physiology class! It turned out really well. Props to BeesKneesKnitting for providing this excellent pattern!

This is a mitten pattern that I designed. I still have some kinks to work on (the cable on the far left is supposed to be in line with the pinkey with the big cable going straight up the middle). For my first original design though, I'm pretty proud :)

 This guy. He finally sold!

Current project: brain beanie! Will post pictures as I get there :)

back-to-school calculus Toms to get me in the spirit of studying again...

who doesn't love a picture of Binxy?

Also don't forget that my super mario 1-up mushroom blanket is still for sale!

I'm going to try and update more, however I'm not sure how much of my butt this semester is going to kick. I guess we shall see.

2011 yarn tally and new product photos

On Jan. 2nd I decided to tally up all the yarn sleeves I had saved in 2011 (starting approximately in March, because that's when I started really getting into knitting and crocheting!). Here is the final tally.. (don't judge..)

And these are just from the skeins that I bothered to take the sleeves off of! It's been a good year for me a Red Heart Super Saver, huh?

Also, I have some new product photos!
Yesterday, my friend Melanie let me use her AWESOME Nikon D60 to take some pictures of my products.

LOVE how these turned out. I took lots more, but too many that I would want to upload to here! Check out my facebook page to see the rest of my photos, and be sure to "like" the page while you're there! :)

Happy Holidays!

Here is a taste of holiday goodness. :)

My improv wrapping paper and ribbon. :)
Left to right: momma wearing a circular scarf inspired by peoplewebs, bubba wearing a beanie in his school colors, other bubba in an Eric Cartman hat, and OTHER bubba wearing a ski mask. They all liked their gifts :)
AWESOME tutorials I found on pinterest. They turned out super cute. These are for Fletchers Dad&stepmom, and Mom&stepdad. :)

I saw a picture on pinterest that showed cardboard letters being wrapped in yarn. The rest is all me! It was completely recycled (except I guess the yarn). I got the sticks from my backyard, and for the hangings on the back I used tabs from soda cans! And then I secured it all together with hot glue...lots and lots of hot glue..

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from CraftyAllie! Hoooooowdy-Ho!

End of the semester, finally!!

I am so happy this semester is over. Since last friday, I have recuperated most of my soul that anatomy had taken away. I ended up getting a 97% on the final and an A in the class! So happy. Overall I got 2 As and 2 Bs. Not bad. My sleep schedule has been quite reversed since I took my last final. I've been crafting (knitting, crocheting, etc) until about 6 AM, and then sleeping until about 3 or 4, repeat. Here are some of the things I have done since my last post!

This is what 12 un-sewn scarves with no tassles look like! All but 3 were for Holiday orders.
I FINALLY FINISHED THE PONCHO! This is my friend Rainier. He's great. :)

awesome beard beanie! There are even buttons on the side so you can remove the beard if you so desire :)

This is an all-inclusive picture for my orders that needed to be completed by christmas-time! And yes, that is an Eric Cartman hat in front there. :)

I also got my online store up and running! I used a site called Weebly, and they are so wonderful! You can make any kind of website you want (store included) and they don't take a cut of your profits! I love this site. Anyway, you guys should check my store out right here!

Well, I'm blogging whilst playing Mario Cart, so I must be going now.

Oh, and here is my awesome cat.
He's so hipster, he liked CraftyAllie before it was cool.
